Moving Quickly

Well, this week has been a definate whirlwind! I am exhausted to say the least! A while ago, we had begun talking to close friends of ours about them possibly finding property and us buying their current home. When they found a property that really suited their needs, and decided to put an offer on it, things began rolling. We decided to take a look into making it official, looking at the financing etc, and we decided to go for it and see what happened. So, all four of us asked God to make it really clear as to what He wanted to do and what His plan was for all of us.

Jason and I had no idea if our house would sell or if it would take a long time, so we began the process of listing our house with our realtor. But because our friends had to remove subjects by the end of November on their new property, they also listed their house. Within 2 days of them listing their house, they already had multiple showings and about 2 days later, the sign went up in front of our house. The showings at our friends home were definately looking good, and so we wondered if maybe God just had a different plan for us, and we were ok with that. But, the first day that our sign went up, we had 2 showings and from the first showing, we received an offer the same day. And at exactly the same time, our friends received an offer on their home as well! We were shocked, to say the least, as neither home was on MLS yet and the pictures hadn't even been taken. The offer that came in for our house on Tuesday was fairly strong and so we had a meeting with our realtor and with our friends, talking about what we were going to do and how all the little details would work. Because Wednesday was a holiday and there were a few things we needed to talk to a bank about, we decided that we would push the offers til Thursday so that we had a day to think about it. Also, there was a couple more showings scheduled for our home the next day and our realtor thought it would be a good idea to have them come. After our Wednesday showings, we received another offer within a few hours that was OVER our asking price! Yesterday, we countered back to the first offer with that price and by the end of the day they had accepted all of our terms and we had an accepted offer!

One of the really interesting things about the offer that is on our place, is that the dates work really well with what our friends needed and also, the subjects are really minimal! We have set the date for subject removal on our house for this coming Wednesday and once that happens, we'll remove subjects on our new house and then LET THE PACKING BEGIN! We do both have backup offers on our houses in case something falls through, which is another way that God has really confirmed things for all of us.

In order for all of it to work, everything had to happen fast, and God sure has blessed all of us in this situation. We will be buying our friends home with Jeremy and Shari, Jason's brother and sister -in - law. There is a 3 bedroom suite in the new house and so we will own the house together and they will live in the basement suite. We feel so blessed that our friends have decided to sell their home, that they have built with their own hands, to us. As long as subjects are removed, we will be moving on December 17. We will live in the basement suite with Jer and Shar for about a month, so that our friends can do some renovations on their new property before they move in. So, things will definately look a bit different this Christmas for us, but we are super excited. I am a bit sad that I won't be able to put up Christmas decorations, but I'll just have to enjoy them at other people's houses instead!! And Shari and I will be putting up a tree the day we move in for sure, even if it is only for a week or two!

So, if all goes as planned, we will have a SOLD sign in front of our house this coming week and then I'll be going crazy packing for the next few weeks! I am kind of glad that everything will happen fast, because we will for sure be settled by the time that our new little son joins the picture! If you want to read another version of the house story, look here on our friends blog!
On another note, we got some family pictures done yesterday and so I will post some of those soon if I can! We had a pretty grumpy little boy during the photos, but our wonderful photographer was very patient and still got some great shots!

It's all so exciting! And fast! That's awesome, I'm happy for all you guys :)
I know how you feel about Christmas decorations - we are HOPING to be in our new place before Christmas, but it's not for sure yet. I'm sad thinking that we might not get to decorate! But we're determined to at least get our tree up, even if we're in only a couple days before :)
Have fun packing! But take it easy too, and take care of yourself!
