Decisions, decisions...

So, I would love to hear what you all think about this topic - Immunizations!

After a long thought process, I have decided not to immunize Landon.  I have always had some issues with immunizing babies, but haven't really known why.  So, the last couple of times that I have gone to the naturopath with Landon, I've been in discussion with him about it.  Today, we went, and I had him go through the little "passport" that we are given and tell me what he knew about each of the vaccinations....SOOO interesting!  And it definately confirmed my thoughts for not wanting to vaccinate Landon.  Anyways, I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on it all...and here's an interesting fact that I learned (and was surprised by): Only 40% of children in Canada are vaccinated.

Hi, I have been reading your blog through Melissa's and I had a son Elijah November 25/07! I am wondering what the name of the naturopath is that you went to? Elijah is a huge puker not really having tummy aches but I would be curious what the rice milk formula is all about and if it would help. Congrats on the success with it all!

My naturopath's name is Scott Tyler and he is in Murrayville. THe rice milk is amazing - it is literally just rice dream and then you add some liquid vitamins - that you can only get at the naturopath- and then you add a little safflower oil. The phone number there is 604-530-3130. Hope that helps!

Hey Kristen,
Interesting comment! Especially since I just started reading "The Vaccination Book" by Robert Sears. EXCELLENT book, especially coming from the medical community. He gives all the info about vaccines and the pros and cons and how they're made, different reasons to get them/not to get them, if you can postpone them, etc...
Anyways, after all of that, I am still getting Grace immunized, just on a different schedule and I probably won't do all of them. I don't think we need to cram them all in when they are so young! But as a nurse, I have seen the results of NOT immunizing (especially WHOOPING COUGH), and they can be VERY serious and more common than you think.
Anyways, I would TOTALLY recommend you reading this book as further knowledge to your discussion with your naturopath. Its mostly informational and not very opinionated, which is great because you can draw your own conclusions, but its definitely opened my eyes, even as a nurse! Hope that helps! And good luck in your search- its always a challenge to find whats BEST for our children in such an "advanced" society, huh? I am totally with you in wanting to give the best to our babies... see you Friday!!
