Landon Update:1

Hello friends of Jay & Kris. This is Char, I am writing on behalf of Jay & Kris to give you an update on Landon.

Last Friday morning, Kristin took Landon to see her family doctor because she was feeling like she really needed to get to the bottom of why he has been so sick. the doctor noticed that Landon was really white and sent him for some blood work.

On Monday morning, Landon woke up, eyes swollen shut once again and very lethargic. Kristin immediately took him to the clinic. There was a long wait, so she called her doctor and persuaded him to see her right away. The doctor confirmed the blood test results to her. Landon is severely anemic and his hemoglobin was very low. The doctor arraigned for Landon to see the on call pediatrician up at the hospital. Within a couple of hours, Landon was admitted.

After seeing the pediatrician she confirmed as well his anemia and that Landon had fallen off the charts for his weight. She ran a number of tests, including allergy tests.

Landon has been taken off the rice formula, as it was not substantial enough to sustain his full nutrition, and has now been put onto a hypo-allergenic formula. As of Monday night, Landon was not eating. Kristin was told later that evening that if they could not get anything into him by morning, a feeding tube would be needed. Obviously distraught, we prayed!

I have just talked with Kristin this morning. Landon has eaten 6 oz since 6am, so good news, no feeding tube at this time. Let's keep praying! The blood test results have also come back, it appears that his protein levels are half what they need to be. The doctor has now told Kristin that the stay will be about a week. You can image how overwhelming that idea is.

Please take time to uphold Jay & Kris in your prayers. Jason is very busy at work right now and Kristin will need all the strength and patience to walk through this next week.

I will keep you updated as best I can over the next few days. Kristin is receiving messages on Facebook from her mobile, so please feel free to send her you messages. Vi sting hours are from 11-8, but I would suggest you call her cell phone or send her a message on FB, just to make sure that they are up for visitors. A hospital stay can prove both lonely and exhausting. For those of you who would like to do something tangible, feel free to email me at ckwitt@telus.net for ideas.

On Kristin & Jason's behalf,

Char
