Two became Three.....

Well, we have a son! We welcomed Landon David Pue into the world on November 29 at 6:16am. On Wednesday, Nov 28, I woke up feeling quite upset as I was so uncomfortable and feeling so done with being pregnant. Karalee and Ben came and occupied me for the day by taking me to Coquitlam Centre where we walked around and did some shopping. After shopping, we came home where Kare and Ben helped me to do some sit ups on the exercise ball - yes, situps!!! We had been told earlier in the day to do situps and that it might bring on labor. I know its a little crazy, but we thought, what the heck? So, I did 15 situps twice, really not believing that anything would happen....Then, Kare and Ben went home and about half an hour later at 5:30pm, I was sitting on the exercise ball watching Oprah and all of a sudden I felt an unusual sensation and yep, my water broke! I whipped my pants off so fast, I'm glad nobody else was home! Then I tried calling Jason, who didn't answer his phone - and then I called my midwife! My dad was able to get a hold of Jason and Jeremy and Shari were close by so they came over until Jason made it home. My midwife showed up and checked me. At that point, we needed to go to the hospital because I was positive for Strep B and so I had to have antibiotics through IV. I wasn't having any contractions at that point, so we went to the hospital and I was hooked up to the IV. Contractions started to come a bit but nothing too consistent or strong. We decided that we would go home and if I didn't go into labor on my own naturally by 1:30am, I would go back to the hospital and be induced. By about 12:30am, my contractions were about 4 min apart and the pressure was incredible, so we went to the hopsital, where by 1 am I was in hard labor. The hardest part of everything was that right from 1am, I wanted to push because the pressure was so bad. I ended up dilating faster than everyone expected and by 4:45am I was 9 cm and my midwife went in and pushed away the rest of the cervix as my body was already pushing on its own. I then pushed for an hour and a half and at 6:16 am, I had my handsome son on my chest. Jason got to cut the umbilical cord and after being all cleaned up and everything, our families were brought into the room about 2 hours later. Jason was absolutely wonderful through the whole thing - I definately wouldn't have been able to do it without him. Landon didn't feed well the first day, so we stayed at the hospital overnight and came home this morning around 11am. Once home, Landon started to feed pretty well and we are all tired, but everyone is doing well now! Thanks for all of your well wishes - we look forward to showing our son off to you all!!
